I have committed to an actual blog-writing project for work. This means I will actually have to write on a regular basis instead of just reading other peoples blogs and making snarky comments or clicking "like."
Ruh-roh.
The good news is, it's something that I actually am interested in, and pitched - a travel blog. So now I can get paid for something I enjoy. Isn't that what people say you should do?
It's gonna be called "Scenic Route" and it'll be linked to through the paper's web site, www.news-record.com in a couple of weeks. Gulp. Ideas from those of you who do this are are appreciated. Thanks!
Lots of small blog posts generate more traffic than a few big ones, unless the big ones touch a nerve in some way.
ReplyDeleteEngage with your commenters, even if it's only to say, "Wait ... what?" If someone leaves a really good comment on a post, update the post to republish the comment in the body of the post where more people will see it. Commenters love that.
Visuals + text > visuals alone. But having worked the desk, you already know that.
If you need help, ask for it. For every absolute ass in the blogosphere, there are five or six technically accomplished people who appear to have nothing better to do than sitting around waiting to provide assistance.
And have fun!
You'll figure the rest out on your own.
dude, this is super-exciting! yay!!! i'm delighted to hear that you'll be doing something for work that will be fun. and i say do everything -- day trips to the zoo like you just did (tell your magical seal story!), disney, the disney village coming up, etc. i always love to hear your travel stories, and i know others will, too. i can't wait for you to get started!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lex and Holly! I appreciate your support! I hope I don't end up being the least read blog in Greensboro.
